Our Youth Ambassador Program is designed to teach young adults bicycle repair so they can give back to their communities while learning valuable skill
To complement the youth program, Redemptive has developed an Ambassador program with the Housing Authority of Birmingham targeted at ages 14-24. This program will teach youth everything that they need to know to be a working bike technician in any bicycle shop in the world, aside from foreign languages. In this year long program, the first six months will be a mix of lecture and hands on learning with our staff. Participants will spend the second half of their year refurbishing bikes that will go back into their community while repairing and maintaining bikes ridden by the youth of their community. Toward the end of their time with us, each participant will build their own bicycle which they will keep. They will also be given a helmet, a lock, a set of lights, and a basic tool kit. Upon completion of our program, we hope to see these youth making the world a better place through cycling.
This program is currently only open to young adults residents of one of the Birmingham Housing Authority’s complexes. If you are between the ages of 14-24 and reside in one of those communities and are interested in participating in this program, fill out this application or contact Tim Wormley.
